getting to know the graduates
Graduating Student: Anna Crow (S 21)
My process paper covers my whole time at VCFA – with a lot of native American concepts in it. My art work this semester is entitled “Coping with COVID.”
How did VCFA change your approach to thinking about your studio practice and your community at home?
VCFA has given me the opportunity and motivation to:
create a body of work that is enough for a one-person show
research areas of art that I am interested in
develop mediums I have not used before
take myself more seriously as the artist I am
Who were your Artist-Mentors?
Mara Pierce
Bently Spang of Montana
Leanne Gilbertson of Montana
Desi Schoenweis of South Dakota
Ron Mills-Pinyas of Oregon and Spain
What was on your play list during your time at VCFA?
I listen to 60’s folk music, brassy classical music, and Native American music. I would like to die to either Handel’s Messiah or Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
Where do you live?
I live in Southeast Montana and am thrilled to be a rural artist.
